The impact of our assumptions and expectations on our behaviour is profound. And yet all too often social constructions remain unreflected. Norms remain unquestioned and mental formations attached to products and customs become placebos. People experience what they expect to experience. People experience, what they are taught to experience. The alcohol industry is working hard on shaping our experiences of their products. Experience is crucial for prevention of alcohol harm. The perceived upside of using alcohol depends on how people experience the use of alcohol. And how they remember the experience.

,Therefore, Movendi Internationalu2019s approach to health promotion is to empower people to look critically at mental formation, and to think critically about social constructions around alcohol and the alcohol norm. This course with its 10 modules will provide a deep dive into alcohol norm and all its aspects: marketing, expectations, industry practices, psychology of identity, peer influence and more – the elements that the alcohol norm consists of and that we need to deconstruct to really understand it.
